Installed on 2001 Audi A4 - Works absolutely great August 1, 2009 eehokie (Atlanta, GA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
As many have commented, the instructions are ridiculous. BUT, after a few minutes they make sense.
So instead of boring everyone with the same details that have already been said I will talk about installation. The installation took me about 45min, I needed a volt meter so I can be sure i was using the right line. If you do decide to tap on existing fuse, please try to find accessory items (glove compartment light for ex is a better choice than brake system).
Installation involves
- connecting to an "Always On" power source (new fuse slot, or tap to existing)
- connecting to a "Key On/Off" power source (new fuse slot, or tap to existing)
- connecting to a ground (availabe near fuse box... connected to body of car)
There is plenty of wire to allow you to route the components where you need to.
Once the primary connections were made, you place the bluetooth transmitter (rectangular box) somewhere under the dash and zip tie it so it doesn't fall on you. What I did was to remove the cover over the pedals and zip tie it under there.
I then routed the controller on the left of the driver and taped it behind the turn signal knob. This is a good spot because the controller is bright, you don't really need to look at it all the time so I'd advise placing it somewhere where the brightness won't bother you but it is still accessible if you need it.
Then I routed the microphone around, pulled back with my fingers teh door moulding slightly and routed the cable up the windshield on the A-Pillar and then hid it behind the headliner by the windshield and then with supplied clip I clipped it right over the rear-view mirror. It looks great, you can't see the routed wire at all.
For my connection, I found out how to tap into a factory hands-free speaker that came with my car. I'd advise against that! It is not worth the hassle. I would advise using the supplied speaker. Just mount it also over the pedals (kick-plate area) or even if you could route it under the seat depending on the space in your car.
I used this with a blackberry Curve - You press the dial button and automatically you are greeted by teh Blackberry's voice controlled dialer. Works great!
I also used it with a Sony Ericsson Bella.
Registering the phones is not difficult. If I change handsets I can re-register the "new" handset in less than 30seconds. Since this device only supports 1 handset at a time, you have to re-register the device.
Quality - Amazingly, when my AC is blasting at full blast people can't hear it. This indicates to me that noise cancellation is working great (made to zone-out repetitive noise). If I am stopped people can't tell at all that i am on a handsfree kit. If I am driving, they can tell but I have never received any complaints. I get on and participate on conference calls regularly.
Favorite functions -
1. I can mute/unmute very easily
2. Syncing is amazing, as soon as I start my car only 2 second click and my call is transferred to the car. When I cut the car off I can continue talking until I open my car door. The call is auto-tranferred to the handset. I can also, for privacy switch to handset easily from phone or device.
Least favorite -
Bright screen when driving at night.
when you increase/decrease volume, the device beeps a little too loud.
Good luck, great product. Don't be afraid to install yourself if you've ever installed a stereo.
I have been using it for about 3 months now and i will be ordering one more today for my wife.

The Motorola HF850 is a great product. I have had one in my Nissan Altima for a couple years now.I recently purchased one more for a 2009 Toyota Camry. I installed it myself. The kit is not hard to install. It only requires you tapping into one accessory wire, a constant battery wire, and a ground. The hardest part is finding these wires to tap in to. If you are not good at taking a few parts of the dash apart and isolating the wires to tap in to, you may want to find a professional installer. I chose not to use the after market wiring harness to install this device because I have heard that you have to have the radio on (not sure if that's true) in order to use the device with the plug and play wiring harness. Also, I was afraid I would have to have the radio password to get the radio going again after disconnecting it. The speaker is loud enough. The sound doesn't have to come out of the radio speaker system for me. I have been well satified with this product for the past couple of years.
Second unit works fine... March 24, 2008 B. Johnson (Seattle, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First unit delivered worked normally for 6 days then went dead. Replugging its power cable brought it back to life: just like a cat it happened 9 times and then I sent unit back for replacement. Second unit has been in two weeks and works fine. My recommendations? Good unit but SAVE ALL RECIEPTS - you may need them again...

We installed these kits in 3 of our service trucks for use with Motorola i580's. The kits are simple to install, easy to link with the phone and work very well, even in our louder diesel trucks. I especially like the feature that mutes the radio automatically when you make or receive a call.
Hands Free - so easy and safe January 12, 2008 C. Welch 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the second of these units I have purchased. While there is some difficulty in adapting to newer cell phones, this unit works very well in my wife's car with her RAZR 3 cell phone. It creates a much safer means of communication as it requires only touching one button on the dash mounted unit to initiate or answer cell phone calls. The voice recognition makes it even more safe as it allows your attention to remain on the task of driving and not dialing. Such devices should be required for all cell phone using drivers. By the way, while this unit is less sophisticated, it gets the job done and at a very reasonable price.
